Fermentation

This is a picture of sauerkraut which is fermented cabbage. Fermentation is a catabolic process that makes a limited amount of ATP from glucose without an electron transport chain and that produces a characteristic end product.

Pollen

The fertilizing element of flowering plants, consisting of fine, powdery, yellowish grains or spores, sometimes in masses.

Echinoderm

Sessile or slow-moving animals that include sea stars, sea urchins, brittle stars, crinoids, and basket stars.

Annelid and Hermaphrodite

Annelids are any segmented worm of the phylum Annelida, including the earthworms, leeches, and various marine forms. Hermaphrodites are organisms, such as an earthworm or plant, having normally both the male and female reproductive organs.

Ectotherm

Ectotherms are reptile, fish, or amphibians that must use environmental energy and behavioral adaptations to regulate its body and temperature.

Anther and Filament of a Stamen

The anther and filament are positioned in the middle of the flower. The filament is the stalk of a stamen and the anther is the terminal pollen sac of a stamen inside which pollen grains with male gametes form in the flower of an angiosperm.

Pteridophyte

This pteridophyte is a fern. It is a seedless plant with roots that contain lignified vascular tissue.

Female Pine Cone

The Difference between a female and a male pine cone is that a female pine cone opens up, whereas a male does not. Male pine cones are smaller and produce pollen grains and the female pine cones contain the egg.

Insect

This moth is an insect. Insects are small, air-breathing arthropods with a head, thorax and abdomen, with three pairs of legs and usually two pairs of wings.

Mutualism is a symbiotic relationship in which both participants benefit.
